Georgian fashion designer Tako Mekvabidze is expanding into the beauty industry with the launch of TAKOMEK, a new haircare line developed in collaboration with leading French laboratories in Paris. Speaking on BMGTV's Women's Narrative, Mekvabidze said the project focused equally on product quality and visual identity, with the packaging design alone taking around eight months to complete.

The initial product range will include a shampoo, conditioner, and hair oil, all developed using a proprietary formula. According to the designer, the products are in the final stages of preparation and are expected to go on sale in September-October.

Mekvabidze said the products will be available through the brand's websites, while partnerships with pharmacy chains are also planned. She added that the company intends to expand into international markets in the future and offer both individual products and bundled gift boxes.

The designer described the move into beauty as a natural extension of her fashion business, noting that the idea emerged during showroom events in France, where she established contacts with industry professionals. She also said she believes she is the first Georgian fashion designer to launch a dedicated haircare line.
